Continuous Extreme Fatigue - A question from a Facebook user

  • 6
So I have had "brain fog" for 2 weeks now accompanied by extreme fatigue. I'm 40 yo female. I have had my thyroid and iron checked before both were fine. Any ideas what this might be? So frustrating! I feel like I have just woken up from a deep sleep all day long.

These messages are for mutual support and information sharing only. Always consult your doctor before trying anything you read here.

Your symptoms may also be caused by diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep-disordered breathing, heart disease, anemia, etc. You can check blood pressure, blood sugar, electrocardiogram, blood routine, etc. At the same time, you need to go to the hospital for a comprehensive assessment of your physical condition.

As would be expected, hypothyroidism and anemia would be the leading 2 common causes of lack of energy and fatigue. So your doctors have ruled these out.I am really not into what might be the underlying problem. If I were the treating physician, I would suggest a brain MRI scan to see if you have any brain abnormalities. Some common causes of extreme fatigue include heart failure, fibromyalgia, and depression, but I don't think what you have could be any of these.

It is not thyroid problem. Not anemia. Other causes include the following. Do not know much about this.

  • Diabetes
  • Heart ailments
  • Lung Problems
  • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Cancer
When I feel that way I have pneumonia or sinus infection
I have the same exact issues...i found an amazing rheumatologist & i asked him to check my cortisol levels & in fact they were low & that can cause extreme fatigue!!!!! Hope you're feeling better by now! ;)
