For a 54 year old, an eGFR of 57 is abnormal. It is significantly lower than normal (in general >90ml/min/1.73m^2). You may have a condition called chronic kidney disease (CKD). I am not sure what causes your CKD. Do you have hypertension, diabetes or lupus or any other disease? If yes, control the blood pressure and blood glucose level. That would help to increase your eGFR. Moreover, see a renal dietitian to adjust your diet. This is also important.

Your result indicates you have slight renal dysfunction. Do you have renal disease, or related disease such as hypertension, diabetes? If yes, you need to treat them first. Besides, you are suggested to take less salt, eat good quality protein and check your renal function regularly.
