How bad is the sore throat?

I have had a sore throat for a few days, it's not as sever as strep throat but at times hard to swallow. I'm 60, female. I also have Crohn's, but not on any medication at this time.

It is not bad. Sore throat is extremely common in the population, and generally needs no treatment. It will go away within a few days to weeks.

Sore throat often goes away in 10 to 14 days, even if you do not do anything. The following steps can make you feel better:

Avoid hot beverages and foods, spicy and salty foods, and citrus.

Gargle with salt water or cool water.

Eat fruit-flavored ice pops. This is helpful if you have a mouth burn.

Take pain relievers like acetaminophen.
