The items listed are not causes of sepsis. What are the environmental factors that could lead to the exposure of infection, I.e. Sitting in a soiled diaper too long before it is changed, for the elderly UTI's
Hello Lew. Sitting in a soiled diaper too long before it is changed might get you into infection, but not necessarily sepsis. An infection occurs when bacteria enter one's body, multiply and cause illness. If that infection isn’t stopped, it can cause a life-threatening condition called SEPSIS. Sepsis is often linked to infection of lungs (pneumonia), kidney (urinary tract infection), skin and gut. So any environment factors that might cause infection in lung, kidney, skin and gut are no good. However, the most important things of prevention are managing your chronic medical conditions, guarding your immune system by eating well and exercising regularly, practicing good hygiene, such as handwashing, and keeping cuts clean until healed, and getting medical support when you're in an infection. As long as the infection is well managed, it won't develop into sepsis.
my husband died dec 8 2018 he had sepsis....the dr said he actually died from kidney failure
Can too many diff. Medications cause sepsis?
Any way to stop it once it starts?
I'm in the hospital now, they only said I had pneumonia, my kidneys are failing, I'm sweaty, diarrhea, coughing, every symptom that comes with it, I'm not getting better they woke me up at 11 pm to take me for another MRI/ x-ray I heard the doctor say sepsis Isnt getting better, so I decided to look up the word and it's symptoms they also found 2 mass on my kidneys I'm a widow with 4 daughters I'm not ready to die they need me. I'm scared, they have on all of these meds and I'm not getting better. I feel so bad and sick
I am sorry for what you have gone through. The most important thing is to control the sepsis, which is the leading cause of death for patients with pneumonia. Treating sepsis is not that easy. It requires strong competence and experience. As for the kidney mass, it's fine if you just leave it alone at this stage, since it is not something between life and death.
Kidneys are the most susceptible organs to be affected by sepsis. If the sepsis is controlled, kidney functions would be normal again. Your other symptoms are also related to sepsis. If you are really sick, you should be transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) to get better treatment. Since you are posting, I think your situation is not serious because those very sick are generally intubated.
Is there any way to stop Sepsis?
1. Stay Up-to-Date With Vaccinations
2. Seek Timely Treatment for Possible Infections
3.Take Antibiotics as Directed
4. Wash Your Hands and Practice Good Hygiene
5. Take Proper Care of Wounds

If you have already been diagnosed with sepsis, then you need to work with your doctor to get timely treatment
My beautifu daughterl lost to sepsis after delivery of her baby one month by getting blood transfusions that were not irrigated blood my heart is forever broken I miss her every day
Where did she get those blood transfusions? That is scary and devastating. My heart aches for you.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
I am sorry for your lost, I to lost my brother to septsis He will be missed forever...my heart is broken
This is the 2nd time I have had this, it is always due to a kidney stone, is there something I am doing, also it seems to accrue when we are in tobacco field all day, I drink and eat what am I doing wrong, thank you
Hello, kidney stones can lead to infection, then infection leads to sepsis. It's also associated with your immunity, if you live in a healthy lifestyle, you immune system get stronger. Yet, have you ever thought about removing that kidney stone so that it won't cause an infection for the third time?
My brother-n-law had a colonoscopy and the next day started having stomach cramps. He had a perforated bowel during that procedure they removed some polyps which caused a leak in his colon. He is in the hospital and he has sepsis. His white cell is high and they are switching Antibiotic s trying to get one that will fight this and my qquestion is what antibiotics are the best.
God bless him. I just want to say that after my mom's colonoscopy she felt hug chest pain, and it lasts for more than a week and didn't recover.
There's no best antibiotics, there's Right antibiotics. In the lab they can identify which bacteria they are and what antibiotic they're sensitive to. The one they're sensitive to is the best in your case.
I have a question:  I had back surgery that staff and led to sepsis. Do you think I have a case against the doctor?
I don't think so. Bacterial infection is a common post-surgical complication, especially for major surgeries. It does not mean it is doctor's fault that led to the infection.
Thank you
A friend just told me she has blood infection. I haven't known her very long..I'm worried about her tho. Is sepsis contagious? What could possibly be the problem? She's in her 30s is very thin. Could she possibly have HIV?
Sepsis isn't contagious. It means she had an infection, the infection wasn't treated properly and it develops into a blood infection. HIV, a blood test will tell you. Being septic doesn't mean being HIV infected.
And I forgot to mention that my leg raked across the bathroom sink as I was trying to use the commode and that's why I am a little afraid because my leg bled a lot when I first done it and it still wants to bleed a little bit..And now it's a little bit more red than usual and I'm not sure what to do. But I sure hope someone can help me out here so I can maybe get a little bit of sleep tonight. Thank you
You don't sound like septic at all, sepsis is a serious infection, people get high fever, heavy sweating, fatigue, even unconscious. You're a bit anxious, other than that you sound fine.
My brother died of sepsis but he took a blood test an doctor says no infection an he died a month later.these is not right if no blood infection why did he died he passed November 10 2018. Corner says sepsis an I talk to the doctor an he said he did not have a blood infection.this has to be a wrong full death
The doctor who said your brother died of sepsis must have found the evidence of infection, otherwise he shouldn't tell you it's sepsis. It's either the previous blood test wasn't right, or the infection occurred after that blood test.
I’m having the same issue.
I have been sick for weeks now and it will feel like I'm a lil better for a day or two then all at once my symptoms start all over again that are alot to be honest  extreme weight loss, stomach aches, extreme fatigue and back pain, weakness fevers, and dehydration also causes mood swings and headaches... I have also been sleeping a lot...
They want to give my sister chemo for her sepsis. Is that a normal procedure?
For severe cases, yes, chemo is an option of treatment.
If you had a partial root canal and was waiting  for the appointment with the dentist to finish, if you get 2 infections 1 after the other in those partial root canal , can that cause sepsis?
Definitely! And I promise you that it is not rare!
I went through that with 2 dentists, lasted 2 months. they both did partials on 2 teeth back to back, and in between I had infections and on antibiotics. This was 5 months ago, I am wondering if I should go for a second opinion and see another dentist, how do you know? My mother died of sepsis, 10 months ago. I brought her to emergency, they sent her home with a UTI, she got home, we had to call a ambulance, she had shaking, and fell to the floor. When we got her to the hospital, they told me she had a heart attack, put her in ICU, then to a private room, she became quite alert. The next day, instead of the breakfast she ordered, they hooked her up to iv, stopped feeding and giving her fluids, she passed away 2 days later,
IV vitamin C has been shown to halt sepsis infection. I submitted the research supporting that treatment to the doctor of my friend with sepsis and a grave prognosis, the doctor at City of Hope administered the IV vit C and my friend recovered and is healthy today!!
Sepsis can be caused by infection of any site, and it is commonly seen in pneumonia, peritonitis, cholangitis, urinary system infection, cellulitis, meningitis, abscess and so on. Its pathogenic microorganisms include bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites.
