How Much Do You Know About Small Bowel Obstruction?

I've had a few surgeries due to colon cancer, and I have substantial scar tissue from them. My doctors say that they're reluctant to do anything about it, because they're afraid it'll just create more scar tissue. The pain is so intense, and it has placed me in the ER on many occasions. I only eat once a day, i've lost more weight than I would ever want to, and I sometimes have to wait a whole day before I can eat another meal. This is hell.
The treatment of colon cancer is a comprehensive treatment based on surgery. The success of colon cancer surgery depends not only on the efforts of doctors on the operating table, but also on postoperative care. Postoperative patients are likely to have various complications, such as infection, bloating, vomiting, anesthesia, etc. may cause abnormal exhaustion, affecting the recovery progress and prognosis. The contents of early activities include: limb movements, respiratory movements.
Limb exercises include: (1) hands clenched fists, loose fists, do
10 times, hands flexed wrist 10 times, flexion and extension elbow joint exercise 10 times (infusion side limbs can not do); (2) lower limb stretching exercise, force straight toe tip, relax, then force the heel, relax, repeat 10 Next, 3 to 5 times / d, can be adjusted according to their physical condition. Breathing exercises include slow chest breathing and deep chest breathing. The main mode of activity is sitting by the bed, standing on the chair, and slowing down. As long as you can tolerate it, you should not feel tired. Once you find palpitations, sweating and other adverse reactions, you need to stop exercising immediately. Early activities can effectively reduce the incidence of lung infections, and can promote bowel movements, help to restore digestive function, increase appetite, better absorb nutrients, enhance the body's resistance, shorten physical recovery time, accelerate wound healing, avoid occurrence complication.Fatheem, you need to adjust your mentality to face it and strive to improve your quality of life, come on, You will win! ! !

While I greatly appreciate your prompt and very insightful response, I don't feel as though you fully understand my situation. I've had these surgeries as lately as 3 years ago, as far as my abdomen is concerned, so the exercises may be a bit late. What I experience DAILY is a BOWEL OBSTRUCTION, caused by SCAR TISSUE from at LEAST three surgeries in the same place, and two of which occurred within five days of each other, due to a severed bowel reconstruction. These surgeries I believe we're done very hastily at NYU/LANGONE MEDICAL CENTER, and have caused me Countless complications! They don't even ADDRESS any solution when I bring up the pain and discomfort. I know going in to try and do something about it, might make it worse, but there's gotta be SOME way not to go through this! By the way, I've been through hell and back, and haven't given up! My strength is NEVER in question, thank you very much! This is a PAIN issue! Pain which I wouldn't wish on ANYONE!
Fathers,
I too have had bowel obstructions due to colon cancer surgeries, two to be exact.  I have been in the hospital 4 times due to blockages caused by scar tissue, I experience intense pain just below the belly button area above the pelvic region, even the elastic band from underwear puts too much pressure on the area.  I am not sure what to do as another surgery will be #3, not good....Dr says I need to chew my food to the consistency of baby food before swallowing...
Currently the best for the bowel obstruction caused by scar tissue is bowel rest and opoid to manage the pain. I'm seeing your doctors have chosen bowel rest for you. Surgery will cause more scar tissue, a tube isn't a long-term solution, so the have to ask you to eat less. I don't think they've given you enough pain reliever, especally opoid.
I've heard people had surgery to remove the scar tissue, isn't it a solution for you two? I don't know but it seems you're both suffering a lot.
Some people take Miralax which lead to diarrhea but keep you away from obstruction.
I can relate. On jan.28, 2019, i underwent an emerg.bowwl obstruction surgery a day or two later I had to undergo another emergency bowel obstruction surgery because the surgeon cut 6in of my intestine the first time and it wasn't sewn back carefully enough and it began to leak I got sepsis was on life support and had multiple organ failure but here I am 4 months later. I am still in a lot of pain and I was wondering if I am going to have to live this way forever
I'm grateful to be alive but it would be great if i felt like myself again.
Problem is every time they open you erase getting more scar tissue
Supposed to say "you risk," not erase
I had a small Bowel obstruction back in May. The doctor told me that I needed to be on a low residue diet. My main concern is that I'm not getting the nutrients I need even with supplements. They tell me that the low residue diet will be for the rest of my life. I am concerned about the lack of nutrients from this type of diet. These problems (Bowel obstruction) are caused from a past surgery.
Refined white bread, refined pasta, noodle, green beans, carrots, mushrooms, spinach, squash (no seeds), pumpkin, cooked potato without skin, banana, avocado, milk, beef, chicken, fish, egg, honey, butter, soy sauce, juice... there're all low-residual foods. See, you've got plenty of foods to eat.
I fell from attic to floor hit back on chair , haven't had bowl.movement since , this is day 4-5 I'm in a lot of pain .
Please use glycerin suppositories see if you can exclude the waste and relieve the pain, if it doesn't help, go to ER.
