Yes. Endometriosis is the tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus grows outside your uterus. Endometriosis most commonly involves your ovaries, fallopian tubes and the tissue lining your pelvis. A hysterectomy may remove only the upper part of the uterus, or removes the whole uterus and cervix, or removes the whole uterus, tissue on the sides of the uterus, the cervix, and the top part of the vagina. As long as the hysterectomy your mother had didn't remove the tissue on the sides of the uterus, endometriosis is possible.
