Not sure my eyes are itchy. Seems to be itchy eyeLIDS, top and bottom...maybe itchy eyelashes? Actually itchy enough to wake me up before daylight today...
If you notice increased eye discharge, it's likely an eye infection.
I went to an allergists for several things but my eyes itch there too. He said the lining right above my eyelashes are inflamed. My eyes swell all the time. Stay red inside the eyeball too. Itch and burn everyday. I have dry eyes also so that's a double whammy. He thinks makeup makes it worse. Also mascara. He gave me some moisture drops its real thick and some cream to put above my eyelashes. It does help the cream. I also was checked for allergies and allergic to cats and grass and different trees. Started taking shots for that. It helped allot. But really I do not think there is anything out there that make it allot better. I have mucus in my eyes constantly for years. I ask the allergist and optometrist when I go they just say its dry eyes or just allergies.  I know it is some type of infection but I just can't get any help with this infection that stays in my eyes. I hope this helps you. I'm still searching. Something is not right. Goodluck! Let me know if you find something that helps.
You still have mucus, you're having an infection in your eyes. If you choose to see an eye doctor, they can prescribe you stronger eye drops, that should fix your eyes up in a week. I guess allergists can't give you that, I don't know, but I guess so.
You should certainly get another opinion but be careful making your own diagnosis or letting someone without a license diagnosis. There is a reason there is M.D. behind their names. They have also seen a LOT of allergies and a LOT of infections. Sometimes it’s very difficult at first to know which one it is, but that’s where a good medical interview comes in. If this has been going on for quite a while and seems stable, it could be allergies. Sometimes you can get an infection on top of an allergy- that’s when the fun of getting to the source of your problem begins! Lastly though, you know your body way better than anyone so if something doesn’t feel right, get a second opinion! Sorry if this comes off as a lecture...
I have glaucoma and use dorzolomide 2x daily and travatan 1x daily Itchy for a couple of weeks maybe....started in one eye...went to both a few days ago. First time it wakes me up.
Itch isn't directly related to glaucoma. What may cause the itchy feeling are: infection, allergy, long-term medication.
