I had malaria back in 1967 while in Viet Nam. I was treated in a field hospital by navy corman. I was packed in ice to get my temperature down and had to catch all body waist to determan. I was told I had the recurring type. Said it could lay dormant for years then react. Can you tell me what type it is.

Hi Mr. Neel, Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium ovale are the recurring types. I think in the past few years there have been medication approved by FDA that can kill both of them even if they are dormant in the human liver.

Malaria is transmitted by mosquitoes. Plasmodium are taken when mosquitoes bite patients. When the mosquitoes bite the next person and infected him at this time. NO worry about body fliuds.
