My daughter has ovarian cancer and had chemo treatment about six years ago, now she may have restrictive lung disease. Could the chemo treatment have affected her lungs leading to this restrictive lung disease?
it's possible. Some chemo drugs could cause Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Yes, Mrs. Guinane, chemo leads to Pulmonary Fibrosis, Pulmonary Fibrosis is a type of restrictive lung disease, meaning the lung is lack of elasticity so it can hold less air than normal. Fibrosis makes the lung lack of elasticity.
I have ILD.
Is it terminal? Under what conditions is it terminal?
Doctors seem like they do not wish to tell you the possibility of dying.
Depending on your symptom, lung CT scan and lung function test. When you have serious respiratory failure, and you need Ventilator to keep the oxygen level. There is a new drug ,pirfenidone, could be helpful in the mild stage to delay the progress. You can consult your doctor about this.
