Are all anti seizure medications in the same drug class chemically? There are a lot of medicine and our supplements that Say they interact with anti seizure medications but I don't know if pregabalin (lyrica) falls in that category as an "anti seizure".
Anti-epileptic drugs as in mechanism of action : (1) sodium channel regulators: phenytoin, carbamazepine, lamotrigine, zonisamide, relitonine, remicarbamide, flunarizine, riluzole, propyl Sodium and topiramate, oxcarbazepine, enoxyl alcohol, naphthone (2) Γ-aminobutyric acid regulator: 1 Enhance GABA synthesis, no drug available. 2 such as benzodiazepines. 3GABA metabolic inhibitors such as aminohexenoic acid. 4GABA A body enhancer such as topiramate. (3) Excitatory amino acid receptor antagonists and modulators of excitatory amino acid release, such as lamotrigine, block the release of glutamate by regulating sodium channels; AMPA receptor antagonists, such as topiramate. 4) Drugs related to anti-arrhythmia associated with ethosuxamine: trimethyl ketone (5) Mechanism of action not fully understood: felamine, gabapentine and levetiracetamunderstood. Pregabalin (lyrica) is in (2). 6 major drug interaction with Lyrica: 1. acetaminophen / propoxyphene 2. aspirin / caffeine / propoxyphene 3. buprenorphine 4. bup
