I have a test reading of  Z Hep B Surface AB Reactive  what does that mean? I am trying to research it.
AB means antibody, Hep B surface antibody reactive means you're protected or immune against the virus. You've got the Hep B surface Ag(antigen) negative, right?
When HBV S-Ab is the only positive one it means you have antibody for HBV by mild infection before or by vaccination, which is good. About HBV test, there is 5 item in it: HBsAg(antigen),  HBsAb(antibody),HBeAb,HBcAg,HBcAb. Different combinations  of positive items have different clinical significance. If you have any kind of antigen positive, you should consult a specialist.

Thank you for replying I am confused I can see being in the military and foreign countries and the doctors never say anything about it once I am tested. Was wondering If I had anything to worry about.

Hi Ms. Hill, Hep B Surface AB Reactive means you're protected against the Hep B virus, you're not having the Hep B infection, and you'll not have it in future. If your Hep B Core AB Reactive, it means you had an infection before and recovered and you're not going to have another one. If your Hep B Core AB Negative, it means you had a vaccine and you're not going to have the infection. I guess they didn't test your Core AB? Surface AB tells us about being immuned or not, Core AB tells us about the previous infection or not. Anyway no worry.

And if you want, you may refer to the table in this post.
