Blood oxygen . How can I help myself
Consider an oxygen generator, it's a type of machine that generates oxygen. You can use it at home. Available at amazon.
I'm on home oxygen for copd I don't have a way to measure it I use it during the day and at night even though the hose over my ear hurts. I can go all day without using it. My question is will I have to be on this all my life
Hello Mrs. Ivey, if you are okay all day without using home oxygen, then you don't need to use it day and night. Use it when you do feel out of breath. Trust your body, when your oxygen saturation is lower than borderline your body will let you know.
For COPD, you need to use oxygen at least a few hours a day, no matter how well you feel. This is the home care guideline. Yet 24*7 might not be necessary.

you can order these meters from Amazon for about $25
Invest in an oximeter.  It's that little thing they clip over your index finger at the doctor's office.  They aren't very expensive and last for a long time with only an occasional change of (usually) AAA batteries.  They're accurate enough to help you decide whether to turn on your oxygen or not.
Readings showing:
97-99  excellent
94-96  very good
91-93  okay (safe)
88-90  borderline
Anything below 88?  Turn on your oxygen concentrator!

P.S. Please use an oxygen concentrator rather than having tanks of oxygen sitting around in your house.   They are so much safer and more accurate and there are even tiny ones you can easily sling over a shoulder and carry with you when you're out and about.  If you can possibly afford it, get one.  It greatly enhances your quality of life.
