Severe mitral valve regurgitation can lead to atrial fibrillation, it's because the leaking leads to an enlarged atrium, an enlarged atrium then develop a rapid and disorganized movement, that's AFib. Yet, it's a possibility.

1. Palpitations, which are sensations of a racing, uncomfortable, irregular heartbeat or a flip-flopping in your chest 2. Weakness 3. Reduced ability to exercise 4. Fatigue 5. Lightheadedness 6. Short of breath

Yes. If you are suffering from AFib, you should go to the ER. There are drugs for it. Moreover, you may need anti-coagulation drugs to prevent stroke. You should visit a cardiologist ASAP.
