Seek a WRITTEN diagnosis of "Severe Chronic Intractactable Pain," and in Some State, (California) there is a "Bill of Rights for Pain Sufferers." At this time, many Physicians literally FEAR treating people with pain longer than 6 months, when tyhe patient's status changes from "Acute" (short) to "Chronic" (maybe for life). the CTC cites that there are NO TRIALS OR PROOF that chronic pain should not be treated with long term medications, including opioids. Your doctor KNOWS what to do, but many will let you suffer for life rather than being questioned as to why you need heavy doses of pain meds. My wife drives a car - a Viper- just fine, while receiving 260mg morphine daily but ovbiously, is tolerant of the medicatioon --- for TEN YEARS now. Here's the real test: In California, the best practice defined by the medical board is TITRATION, but few doctors will do that. Titration is simply dosing until effective. My wife went through that and has been on the same dose for more than 10 years now. She is NOT an addict, but is "dependent," which many doctors think is bad. But so are patients on insulin, on thyroid medication, and more. It's a political hysteria. But you need to be aware of the resistance and seek out a REAL doctor. They ALL know what works... but most are afraid, and take care of themselves above taking care of you. My wife has a great doctor who never gets in trouble because she follows the rules.
