Sometimes pain in center of chest may occur on stretching, exercising, breathing deeply or lying down. Gastrointestinal disorders are usually the most common cause of chest pain, especially in the center, under the breast bone. Pain in the center of chest while breathing is usually linked to problems related to lungs .Cardiovascular or heart related causes for pain in center of chest, and it always ranges from the center to the left.Heart related conditions can be serious and need immediate medical care.

Get a chest CT, check upon your lung. Do it quickly please.
I have had the same thing and have gone to ER.  Was diagnoised with Atypical pain.  Also been told it could be skeltonal/muscle chest pain.  Was really sick yesterday, but didn't go to the ER.  I will never do that again. I have gone 3 times in the midst of the attack and heart was check out, chest Xrays and CT.  I am sceptial of not going to ERbut it is coming on closer and closer, but not daily.
How old are you? Have you ever been diagnosed with digestive ulcer? Do you have any risk factor for coronary heart disease (heart attack), such as, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, family history, et al? When does the chest happen usually? Is it related to physical exercise? How long does it last? Do you have a feeling of sudden death, or chest tightness? I am not sure about your situation. If you have very uncomfortable feelings , you should still go to the ER to find out.
If the ER fails you, you can choose to see a thoracic specialist. It could probably be caused by a heart disease, such as atypical angina. You can see a cardiologist.
Sometimes we have to figure out the pain pattern on our own. If it's stomach ulcer, you'd feel pain after eating. If it's heart related, you'd feel pain after physcial activity. If it's muscle related, it's usually linked to certain moves. Do you feel any exisitng patter of the pain? Doctors usually check each organ, when none of them show abnormalities, they will tell you it's muscle or never.
Is this a muscle pain? Try to move your arm, shoulder, chest front and back, if you feel the pain worse, it's likely muscle.

If you feel pressure and shortness of breath, it could be heart or lung.

Chest pain is complicated, meanwhile one can't ignore that. You'll need to take a few exams if you continuously feel the pain.

It's consistent or paroxysmal? is it related to physical exercise? will deep breath worsen it? how old are you ? have you ever been diagnosed with digestive ulcer? A few life-threatening chest pain: ischemic heart disease, pulmonary embolism, pneumothorax, aortic dissection. other disease: pneumonia, Ribitis, shingles, Intercostal neuritis, pleurisy(TB ,maybe no fever)Esophagitis, hiatal hernia, esophageal cancer, lung cancer. You should go to hospital to find out ASAP.It sounds very serious.
Thanks for the detailed description of the pain. But they are of little usefulness to reach a diagnosis. You finally have to do a chest CT scan to see what is wrong. Chest CT scan would enbale doctors to see whether there is embolism or pericardiatis. Addtionally, it will uncover other conditions, such as pleurisy, lung cancer and so on
