Keeping a normal cholesterol level is what you need to try. As you grow older, cholesterol accumulates in your body and your cholesterol level increases. Adults in all age groups share the same cholesterol level chart, while children have a different one. The cholesterol level include amount of LDL, HDL and triglycerides in your blood. Good heart health is like a building block. The earlier you start making healthy lifestyle choices, the better off you will be as you grow older.  [caption id="attachment_16751" align="alignnone" width="365"]Normal cholesterol level, HDL and LDL You may try to reduce your intake of these.[/caption]

Here is how to interpret your cholesterol numbers.

Your total cholesterol level is the overall amount of cholesterol in your blood. It consists of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL). LDL is called “bad” cholesterol because it blocks your blood vessels and increases your risk of heart disease. HDL is considered “good” cholesterol because it helps protect you from heart disease. The higher your HDL, the better. Finally, total cholesterol includes a triglycerides count. These are another type of fat that can build up in the body. For example, high levels of triglycerides and low levels of HDL raise your risk for heart disease. Below are the recommended cholesterol levels for adults and children from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). All values are in mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter).

You can help with this by cutting junk food off your diet. Also, exercising, reducing fatty meat and keeping a healthy lifestyle are effective choices. In fact, by taking care of your cholesterol level, you are preventing possible blood vessel blockages and working for your own health and your family's happiness. Keep working! It never hurts to improve your health. Keyword: normal cholesterol level
