The symptoms of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) vary at different stages. Many people with CLL have no symptoms at early stages and then have symptoms over time.
Such symptoms include:
- Enlarged, but painless, lymph nodes and a spleen caused by an accumulation of leukemic lymphocytes
- Fatigue and/or short of breath in routine physical activities caused by anemia
- Fever
- Pain in the upper left abdomen, which may be caused by an enlarged spleen
- Night sweats
- Weight loss due to decreased appetite and/or increased use of energy
- Frequent infections caused by low immunoglobulin levels and decreased neutrophil counts
