Though pancreatic cancer has a really low survival rate, there are still survivors. Getting in touch with them via phone, online or in support groups can effectively boost the spirit. These survivors are cured because their cancer was spotted in its early stage. At that time the cancer was still confined to the pancreas and has not spread to nearby lymph nodes, major blood vessels or distant sites of the body. They usually took a complex procedure called the Whipple Surgery to remove the cancer. After that, they would follow the doctor's instructions and take regular scans of their pancreas to check for signs of recurrent cancer. After five years from the diagnosis, if there is still no sign of the cancer's recurrence, these patients become heroic survivors of one of the fatalest cancer and can continue to live a healthy life.
