Scientists at hospitals and medical centers all across the US are studying the deadly pancreatic cancer. They are trying to learn what causes this disease and how to prevent it as well as better ways to diagnose and treat it.
Throughout the years, the NCI has been supporting many studies of new treatments for pancreatic cancer. Researchers are looking for new drugs and drug combinations, new forms of radiation therapy, biological therapy, and combinations of these treatments. Also, researchers are looking at new ways to give radiation.
Symptoms of pancreatic cancer include jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes), abdominal and back pain, fatigue, dark urine, loss of appetite and sudden weight loss.
