Constipation in children is a common problem. When children are experiencing constipation, they seldom poop or have hard, dry stools.
Common causes of children constipation include ignoring the urge to go to the bathroom, early toilet training and changes in diet. Fortunately, most cases of constipation in children are temporary. Parents or caretakers can improve the situation through changing children's diet or taking them to exercise.
Constipation in children usually isn't serious. However, chronic constipation may lead to complications or signal an underlying condition. Take your child to a doctor if the constipation lasts longer than two weeks or is accompanied by more severe symptoms such as fever, vomiting, blood in stool, etc.
