The first signs of food-borne botulism are usually obvious, such as
- nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea followed by constipation
About 12 hours after contamination, symptoms become much more serious, such as:
- blurred vision
- difficulty swallowing and speaking
- droopy eyelids
- general muscle weakness
- paralysis in the arms
- difficulty breathing
Because of different types of botulism, the symptoms usually take different time to show up.
However, what you should remember is to call your doctor as soon as you find the early signs.
