Vaccines usually cause mild side effects, and will disappear in a few days with no need of medical treatment. But in certain cases serious side effects might occur. Mild side effects after injection of PVC13 or PPSV23 include redness, pain, swelling, fever, no appetite, irritable, chills, tired, headache. Symptoms that people need to watch out after pneumococcal vaccine injection include faint, severe shoulder pain, severe allergic reaction. After injection, people are recommended to sit or lye down for 15 minutes to prevent faint, or injury from fall. If you feel dizziness, change of vision, ringing in the ears, let your doctor know as soon as possible. Severe shoulder pain is very rare. As for severe allergic reaction, it happens 1 in a million. But if you have allergic problem, consult your doctor before you take the vaccine. It's critical.   Related FAQs: http://healthtopquestions.com/?p=1505 http://healthtopquestions.com/?p=1512 http://healthtopquestions.com/?p=1602
My wife got the vaccine and now has full blown pneumoccacak pnuemoninia! She was very sick for 5 days, now they are giving her IV antibiotics and fluids! I would not recommend it to anyone!
Sorry to hear- could it be that she had pneumonia already in the beginning stage?
I am deciding to get it or not like you suggest!
Hope she is better now!!!!
Pneumonia vaccine doesn't cause pneumonia, simply because both PVC13 and PPSV23 contain only dead germs, dead germs can't make people infected.

Pneumonia vaccine doesn't eleminate the chance of pneumonia, some people still have penumonia even after the vaccination.
