Treatment for seborrheic dermatitis aims at loosening scale, reducing inflammation and swelling as well as curbing itch. Following ways can treat seborrheic dermatitis:
  • Creams, shampoos or ointments that control inflammation. They have good effect and are easy to use. However, you had better not use them for many weeks or months continuously, or they may cause side effects like thinning skin or streaks and lines.
  • Antifungal gels, creams or shampoos alternated with another medication.
  • Antifungal medication you take as a pill. This way may be used when other treatments fail to improve your condition.
To treat your seborrheic dermatitis, you had better take the advice from your doctor. There is not a unified way to treat seborrheic dermatitis owing to different skin types and side effects. Your doctor will help you find a most suitable way of treatment for you. My Derm has been absolutely worthless!  I'm finding better help from other forums. The Derms go thru a bunch of scripts that do nothing and then insurance companies let them prescribe more useful scripts. Who wants to wait six months to get useful prescriptions.
Have you seen another derm?
