Meningococcal meningitis is a type of meningitis caused by bacterial infection. It's a severe inflammation of the layer surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Meningococcal meningitis is a serious form of meningitis. It's life-threatening in about 50% of the cases if not treated. The most affected area is the meningitis belt which starts from Senegal and ends in Ethiopia. Symptoms:

  • Confusion
  • Stiff neck
  • Headache
  • Vomiting
  • Sensitivity to light
How it spreads:

  • Coughing
  • Kissing
  • Smoking
