The signs of C. difficile infection can vary from mild to severe life-threatening diseases. Symptoms of mild to moderate infection include:
  • Watery diarrhea three or more times a day for two or more days
  • Mild abdominal cramping and tenderness
If severe, your body might show the signs of: 
  • Watery diarrhea 10 to 15 times a day
  • Abdominal cramping and pain, which may be severe
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Fever
  • Blood or pus in the stool
  • Nausea
  • Dehydration
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Swollen abdomen
  • Kidney failure
  • Increased white blood cell count
As stated before, C. difficile infection is highly likely to occur to everyone. However, if you happen to meet any following conditions, you might have higher risk of being infected:
  • Frequent user of antibiotics
  • Usually exposed to healthcare environment
  • Taking acid suppression medication
