A convulsion is a febrile seizure in a child caused by a spike in body temperature, often from an infection. A temperature above 100.4 F may trigger a convulsion. Usually, a child having a convulsion shakes all over and loses consciousness. Sometimes, the child may get very stiff or twitch in just one area of the body. Fortunately, while these fits and spasms look scary, usually there are no long-term effects. Keywords: define convulsions; definition of convulsions.
