Yes. Cataplexy is a condition that leads to weakness and loss of muscle control. Narcolepsy can be accompanied by cataplexy. It may be a sudden loss of muscle tone which is often triggered by a strong emotion, such as laughter, excitement, fear, surprise or anger. It may last for a few seconds to a few minutes. Some people with narcolepsy experience only one or two episodes of cataplexy a year. Some even never experience cataplexy, while others have numerous episodes daily.
