Diabetic ketoacidosis signs and symptoms often develop quickly, sometimes within 24 hours. You may notice:
  • Abdominal pain
  • Confusion
  • Excessive thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Fruity-scented breath
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness or fatigue
Seek emergency care if:
  • Your blood sugar level is consistently higher than 300 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL), or 16.7 millimoles per liter (mmol/L)
  • You have ketones in your urine and can't reach your doctor for advice
  • You have multiple signs and symptoms of diabetic ketoacidosis
Remember, untreated diabetic ketoacidosis can be fatal. Keyword: ketoacidosis; ketoacidosis+
I've never been at risk for diabetes but started keto/low carb IF/OMADand have been doing great for 6 weeks now and lost 17lbs.I was in ketosis almost immediately and staying in moderate to large ketosis since but had plateaued so a few days ago decided to go high fat and fast longer to see if I could break the plateau. I've been doing 24hrs fast everyday and eating one nutritous meal at night. But two days ago just did bulletproof coffee and bacon in the morning. Late in the afternoon I went to acupuncture and was feeling great but immediately after my session I felt weak, nauseas, pain in stomach and severe dry mouth. I had to pull over and stop the car because I thought I was going to pass out. A woman found me struggling to walk and helped me in to a store to use their bathroom. I had been well hydrated and feeling great so how and why did I go into such immediate distress, weakness and dry mouth and pain? I am 69 and thought I was to get in the purple range on the ketostix. Was it the change in fat only? I had all but one symptom for keto acidosis. I was better in a few hours and two days later still a little weak but ate a good dinner last night and tonight. Should I go get tested? Have I damaged my kidneys?
Does it occur only once? Kind of feel that it may be related to the acupuncture. Fainting  has been reported hours after acupuncture.

To be on the safe side, you should be tested, and if you wanna know whether your kidney has been damaged, you can take a blood test for serum creatinine.
