- Major Depression. It's also called major depressive disorder. If you're depressed most of the time for most days of the week, lost interest in activities, and feel worthless or guilty, you might have this condition.
- Persistent Depressive Disorder. When you have depression for 2 or more years, it's called persistent depressive disorder.
- Bipolar Disorder. It has another name: manic depression. Patients have extreme mood swings. They have mood episodes that range from extremes of high energy with an "up" mood to low "depressive" periods.
- Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). It usually occurs in winter months and goes away when spring comes.
