Intrapleural pressure is also called intrathoracic pressure. It refers to the pressure within the pleural cavity. In general, the intrapleural pressure is slightly less than the atmospheric pressure. Pneumothorax may occur when the pleural cavity is damaged and the intrapleural pressure is equal to or exceeds the atmospheric pressure. Keywords: intrapleural pressure; intrapleural pressure+
