Parietal pleura is one of the two pleurae of invaginated sac. The invaginated sac surrounds each lung and attaches to the thoracic cavity. The parietal pleura refers to the outer membrane which is attached to the inner surface of the thoracic cavity. Another pleura called visceral pleura, and it refers to the delicate serous membrane that covers the surface of each lung and dips into the fissures between the lobes.
