Ischemic cardiomyopathy is a type of cardiomyopathy caused by a narrowing of the coronary arteries which supply blood to the heart. This cardiomyopathy is one of the leading causes of sudden cardiac death.
Generally, patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy have a history of acute myocardial infraction, but it may also occur in patients with coronary artery disease without a past history of acute myocardial infraction.
The common causes of ischemic cardiomyopathy include atherosclerosis, diabetes, inflammation of arteries, vasospasm, etc. Patients of ischemic cardiomyopathy may present symptoms like sudden fatigue, dizziness, palpitations, etc.
