Acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) is a variant or sub-type of transverse myelitis, it is a rare but serious condition. It is a neurologic illness of sudden onset in children, and it affects spinal cord and means the inflammation of the spinal cord. The predominant presentation of AFM is the weakness in the limbs, face, oral or eye muscle. AFM may also result in total paralysis, partial paralysis, or weakness of just one limb. The combination of paralysis and how individuals present are widely variable. In order to reduce the inflammation in spinal cord and further prevent immune system from attacking for patients with AFM, the current acute therapies for AFM may include high dose IV steroids, plasma exchange, etc. Keyword: acute flaccid myelitis
