Chronic idiopathic urticaria is a type of urticaria. For a small number of people, hives or urticaria come back again and again with no known cause.
When new outbreaks happen almost every day for
6 weeks or more, it's called chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU).
The exact causes of chronic idiopathic urticaria are still unknown, but several things can lead to flare-ups, which include:
- Tight clothing
- Exercise
- Heat
- Cold
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) like aspirin and ibuprofen
- Alcoholic drinks
