The exact cause of the disease is unclear and is generally considered to be related to genetic and viral infections. It has much in common with autoimmune diseases, which occur when antibodies, disease-fighting cells, attack your body tissues or cells. Dermatomyositis particularly affects small blood vessels in muscular tissue. And inflammatory cells encircle the blood vessels and eventually cause destruction of muscle fibers. There is a significant racial difference in the onset of polymyositis and dermatomyositis. African Americans have the highest incidence, with black to white morbidity ranging from 3:1 to 4:1. The incidence of dermatomyositis in children in Asia and Africa is higher than that in Europe and America. The presence of this disease in identical twins and first-degree relatives also suggests a genetic predisposition.   Keywords: causes dermatomyositis; cause dermatomyositis; dermatomyositis cause; dermatomyositis causes.
