Pincer toenails refer to the toenails of which the sides curve inwards and dig into the surrounding skin. They are mostly a result of aging (years of wearing tight shoes). However, bone spurs under the nails could also be a cause. How to treat them?
  • The most common method is a simple ingrown toenail procedure which cuts from both sides of the nail. However, many find this cosmetically unpleasing.
  • A new method is the KD device, which is a metal clip approved by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). As it’s made up of memory metal alloy, it really unrolls the sides of the nail and returns it to its original shape without damage to the nail. The whole process takes a few weeks.
