There're a few self-treatment you can try.
  • Holding the breath for few seconds
  • Drink a glass of water quickly
  • Pulling the tongue
  • Biting on a lemon
  • Gargling with water
  • Smelling salts
  • Place half teaspoon of sugar at the back of the tongue
If Hiccups last more than 48 hours or if they are so severe that they cause problems with eating, sleeping or breathing, you need to go see a doctor.
