The thyroid gland produces hormones which play an important role in controlling the metabolism. When the amount of hormones secreted by the thyroid is too much or too less, thyroid problems occur. Two common thyroid diseases are hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. When the thyroid gland becomes overactive, hyperthyroidism occurs. And when the gland fails to produce enough thyroid hormones, you have hypothyroidism. Blood testing is now a common way to determine the adequacy of the levels of thyroid hormones. The tests can define if the production of thyroid hormone is in the normal range. Besides hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, thyroid blood tests can also point to other conditions of the thyroid gland.   Keywords: thyroid blood test; thyroid blood test results; thyroid blood tests     Related FAQs:
