85% of the patients with Guillain-Barre syndrome could make a full recovery within 6 to 12 months. 30% of them still have weakness in 3 years. 3% of them have a relapse. The mortality rate is around 3-4%.
Most people eventually make a full recovery from Guillain-Barre syndrome, but this could take a long time and some may have long-term problems. Among adults recovering from Guillain-Barre syndrome, about 60% recover fully motor strenghth. 5-10% have delayed and incomplete recovery.
