I'm a 60 year old African American female and my eGFR is 79, is that normal?

No. The normal range of GFR is 90 to 120.
In adults, the normal GFR should be more than 90. A GFR level between 60 and 89 is considered mildly low. You need to check your GFR more often. If there's no sign of kidney damage, such as protein in the urine, you don't need to worry about it. If there is, however, the reading may indicate early kidney disease.
