Yes, that is a good number.
It's in the normal range.
A BNP level of 9 is quite low. You have to have BNP at least >1000 to consider a diagnosis of heart failure.
THEY SAID VERY HIGH NUMBER BUT DIDN'T GIVE NUMBER.  SCHEDULED ME FOR A ECHO. I AM A YOUNG 73. NOT READY TO BE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE GRASS YET.  THANK YOU.
Hi, sharon, a high BNP number indicates heart failure, thus an echo should be done to evaluate and look for causes of heart failure. I must point out that some heart failure is reversible, meaning some people would recover fully. But this, too, depends on exactly what causes the heart failure in the first place.
; WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO LOWER THIS NUMBER NATURALLY.
What is your BNP number?
my BNP is 301 pg;? is this dangerous? I had open heart surgery to replace the aortic valve 9 yrs. ago.? is this related?
High BNP could be a sign of heart failure. It's possible that they are related. But it's not serious. Have a heart ultrasound test and follow up with your surgeon.
The natriuretic peptide system is comprised of 3 peptide hormones including atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP). BNP, also known as brain natriuretic hormone because it was first isolated from porcine brain, is synthesized primarily by ventricular myocytes. It is continuously released in response to both ventricle volume expansion and pressure overload.
The natriuretic peptides are natural antagonists to the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone (RAA) system in regulating arterial pressure. The authors conclude that the BNP test is a quick, inexpensive test which enhances current diagnostic assessment tools, and enables doctors to make the correct diagnosis of heart failure. Future research is evaluating the use of BNP to determine prognosis and decisions regarding treatment

BNP levels below 100 pg/mL indicate no heart failure
* BNP levels of 100-300 suggest heart failure is present
* BNP levels above 300 pg/mL indicate mild heart failure
* BNP levels above 600 pg/mL indicate moderate heart failure.
* BNP levels above 900 pg/mL indicate severe heart failure.
