There is no exact statistical data on the canceration rate. It is only through regular monitoring that early detection of cancer cells can be made.
It depends on what the cyst is. There are 4 kinds of pancreatic cysts that may be cancer. They are serous cystadenoma, mucinous cystadenoma, intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN), and papillary cystic tumor. The likelihood of the latter 2 become cancer is very high. You should frequently monitor the cysts according to your physician's advice.
Mine was the latter one and it took 2 yrs. Luckily it was caught in the pre stage and surgery was an option. That was 3 yrs ago and ive made a complete recovery. Due to the fact of me not letting the drs tell me its a pulled muscle and family history.
I had intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm and my doctor said my condition was quite rare for only 1-2 percent of pancreatic cysts could turn cancerous while I was one of them. But whatever, I've had it removed 2 years ago by surgery.
