Surgery is the only thorough treatment.
Regrettably no. Although surgery is the most effective treatment for liver cancer, the prognosis (life expectancy) for those who underwent surgery is still very poor.
Not necessarily. In fact, for 44% of people who are diagnosed at an early stage, the 5-year survival rate is 31%. If the cancer has spread to surrounding tissues or organs, the 5-year survival rate is 11%. If the cancer has spread to a distant part of the body, the 5-year survival rate is 2%. And if surgery is possible, surgery can generally result in higher survival rates across all stages of the disease.
My brother-in-law is in late stage of liver cancer. Surgery is impossible, he's on target therapy for 3 months, so far it's good.

Target therapy may damage the liver function. However, the most important thing at this moment is to stop the cancer cells.

I always tell my sister, who I'm close to, that new therapy will come out in a couple of years. That's why they have to hold on, try their best to hold on, and wait for the new therapy. I'm confident in the way of injecting virus into the tumor to kill the cancer cells. Both Standford Medicine School and another UK college had successful trials in this measure.
Check this out:  Dr. Burzynski's clinic in Texas - My friend went to him and did quite well for a while (much longer than what the doctors told her.  He has great results with some patients.
