It's genital herpes.
Wat can you buy over the counter for herpes?
Studies with the over the counter herpes medication have found that 80-90% of the people who take the drug for suppression have greatly reduced frequency of outbreaks or do not have outbreaks while taking the drug. The virus is still present in the body, and after the drug is stopped, the outbreaks and shedding come back to a regular level. The following are approved drugs to reduce the pain and suffering during herpes outbreak:

Acyclovir
Valacyclovir
Famciclovir and
Penciclovir.

The over the counter herpes medication may be taken in one of three ways: first episode treatment, episodic therapy—the taking of herpes medication with outbreaks only, and suppressive therapy—taking medicine every day. The first two uses of the drug attempt to shorten the length and severity of a specific outbreak. Taking medication with outbreaks, either first or future ones, has not been shown to impact future recurrence rates of herpes. The episodic treatment with the help of over the counter medication for herpes speeds up the healing process during an outbreak. The herpes patient usually starts taking the antivirals in appropriate dose as soon as he or she feels the initial symptoms of the outbreak occurring into the body. Also, episodic therapy has its best results when treatment begins at the very first sign of an outbreak. It is important to act instantly while the first signal of the cold sore appearing. If you can successfully figure out that it is going to be a cold sore only (if you are a long time sufferer then it is not that difficult to assess the beginning of an outbreak) more than half of the treatment is done. You will have to do least efforts if you start early.

The third use of the drug i.e. over the counter treatment for herpes is for suppression of outbreaks—to prevent outbreaks from coming, is recommended for anyone who has frequent outbreaks, who are bothered by their outbreaks, or who has an uninfected partner and wishes to reduce the risk of infecting them. After a primary infection, the virus travels to a nerve cell ganglion where it persists in a dormant phase. Various factors such as sun exposure, chapping or abrasion of the skin, fever, stress, fatigue, or menstruation can reactivate the virus, resulting in a recurrence at the site of the original infection. You can drop the chances of re- occurrences to almost nil with the help of suppressive therapy of over the counter herpes medication. It is kind of permanent cure only, right? Suppressive therapy seems to be the best alternative until you know about the side effects. The long term health hazards and short term discomfort the regular intake of the over the counter medication for herpes can cause make it the least worthy investing.
THANKYOU for taking time to teach us what we can do to treat this scourge.
And what about ALL the side effects from these "medications"??? A couple of the side effects are hair loss, and it can ruin your sex drive too, right!
It means genital herpes positive, you have genital herpes.

Genital herpes is an STD, it's caused by Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). There is no permanent cure for herpes, antiviral medication can help to reduce symptoms.

For self care, you can use mild cleansers when bathing or showering in warm water. Keep the infected site clean and dry. Wear loose, cotton clothing to keep the area comfortable.
I have an itchy rash on the right side of my groin.  it gives off a pungent foul smell.  STD?
Doesn't sound like STD. I don't think STD is restricted to only a piece of skin on the groin area.
It sounds more likely to be tinea cruris. You can try to use some antifungals, such as terbinafine ointment
what is tinea cruris?
Tinea cruris is a fungal infection, and it can affect the skin of your genitals, inner thighs and buttocks. It can be spread from person to person, or by sharing contaminated towels or clothing. If you are infected, you can get itchy in warm and moist areas of your body, and then the skin will become itchy and red, and show a ring-shaped rash. There are several ways you can prevent infection. For example, keep your body dry, especially in your genital area and inner thighs; wear clean clothes and change frequently if you sweat a lot; wear appropriate clothes, not too tight; don't wear other people's clothes.
really appreciate your educational answers here!
Imiquimod cream is commonly used.
I'll ask my doctor, thanks
it's the chicken pox ! simple as that!
society should think with their hearts and not their penis or crotch.

i think about 80% of you now all have it!!   thats right!
you can lie to a partner and you are the problem not a solution.

shame on everyone of you for not being honest and taking sex to a level of " getting off"
society is uneducated  ignorant and well -

liars.

doctors need to tell you the virus unhitch it is derived it starts there..

good luck ever finding anyone to trust lying and spreading the virus.
i totally agree I contracted the virus from my ex of years and he never told me he had them..now im stuck with them for the rest of my life
It is not chickenpox. When you get chickenpox as a child, then you are likely to get shingles in the adults. Nonetheless, genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex virus.
If you have herpes, you should talk to your sex partner(s) and let him or her know that you do and the risk involved. Using condoms may help lower this risk but it will not get rid of the risk completely. Having sores or other symptoms of herpes can increase your risk of spreading the disease. Even if you do not have any symptoms, you can still infect your sex partners.

There is no cure for herpes. However, there are medicines that can prevent or shorten outbreaks, such as alacyclovir (Valtrex), famciclovir (Famvir) and acyclovir (Zovirax).
U can put a man on the moon --have open heart surgery---but cant find a cure for a virus ???????????????????
Regretably, man cannot find a cure for a virus. It is also true for HIV or other viruses. You can treat it, but you can't cure it
That's why humans are so pathetic.
ie, the Rhinovirus!  Ever get a cold?!
I caught it from a tv host it sucks.
Wow, a TV host ...
