There is no such thing as being exposed to bacterial vaginosis. Most people do not know when they get bacterial vaginosis. They only know when they do have symptoms, such as itching and discharge.

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a condition that happens when there is too much of certain bacteria in the vagina. This changes the normal balance of bacteria in the vagina. It is not a specific bacterium that causes BV. Current studies showed that a new sexual partner, multiple partners, and a new touching can increase the risk of BV and upset the normal bacteria. This is a chronic process.
