Well, if you are middle-aged or the elderly, every doctor would exclude the possibility of a heart condition, such as angina pectoris. They will run blood tests and do EKGs. Certainly, it could also be caused by other conditions, such as pleurisy or other lung problems.

What is the severity of the pain? How long does it last? Is it acute or chronic? Upper left chest pain could be caused by many problems, such as heart problems, pleurisy, lung tumor or acid reflux. If the pain is severe or it doesn't go away, you'd better see a doctor.
