Double Chin! SOS!

In my deep heart, I always think I’m pretty and young. Yes, I’ve got an 18-year-old princess in my 30-year-old body. Just call me a dreamer. It’s ok.

     

    

But every time when I enter a rest room and look in a mirror, the mirror is shouting to me, “You have a freaking double chin that looks horrible and makes your face look sooooooo fat!” Oops.

      

That’s why I always position my face a certain way to hide my double chin when taking a picture. I know many other people who hate their double chins just like me. Recently, I’ve found some useful remedies that really help me. I’m more than glad to share them with you!

    

But before launching an attack to double chin, our great enemy, we should first have a better understanding of it.

     

     

A double chin occurs when a layer of fat forms below the chin. Though many people think it is caused by obesity, one can have a double chin with a healthy weight (like me!). Genetics, looser skin and bad posture may all be associated with a double chin.

     

Now, let’s see what we can do to get rid of it!

     

1. Pucker up

     

First, look at the ceiling with your head tilted back. Then, imagine your favorite star is on the ceiling and pucker your lips as if you’re kissing him or her. This is to stretch the area beneath your chin. Hold the position for 5 to 20 seconds and repeat 10 to 15 times.

     

     

2. Whistle

    

I know this sounds a little bit weird, but this can also strengthen your jaw and neck muscles.

     

Now, your favorite star is still on the ceiling, tilt your head back, look at the ceiling and close your lips as if you are whistling at your star. Hold for 10 to 20 seconds and do about ten reps.

     

    

3. Pout

     

When taking a selfie, I always like to make a pouting face. This position not only makes you look lovely, but also helps in eliminating double chin!

     

You can just imagine you are taking a selfie, stick the bottom lip out to form a pouting face. Hold this position for 3 seconds, then tilt your head towards your chest while keeping your lower lip out and hold for another 3 seconds. To get better results, you’d better do 10 to 20 reps.

    

4. Ball exercise

        

     

In most cases, tools can help people exercise better. As for fighting off double chin, a ball may be your best helper.

      

Just place a 10-inch ball under your chin and press your chin down against the ball steadily. Try to repeat this between 10 to 30 times daily.

    

5. Chew gum

       

    

Surprise! Inspite of keeping your breath fresh, chewing gum also exercises the muscles in your chin and jaw, which can help you get rid of double chin.

     

Besides, people who chew gum after meal may be less likely to take snacks because they are satisfied, according to a 2011 study. Chewing gum helps you lose weight and thus fight off double chin.

     

Remember though, you’d better chew sugar-free gum to avoid extra calories.

    

    

If you can stick to these exercises daily like me, I bet double chin will be farther and farther away from you. But still, it’s important to remember that while the remedies described above can help reduce the double chin, living a healthy lifestyle is the key to getting your entire body healthy and reducing such problem areas.
